The quarterly cultural programme from the Department of Culture of Sagunto Town Hall presents another week of theatre and music events. Highlights include a performance by the group Doña Manteca and a staging of Ramón María del Valle-Inclán's play Divinas palabras.
The first cultural event will be a book presentation on Wednesday, 28 October, at 19:00 in the Centro Cívico Antiguo Sanatorio. The featured books are Sueños y relatos al lado del CPAP and El caminante, la leyenda del bardo inmortal, by Nieves Bausili and Javier Arnau, respectively. This event is organised by the Department of Libraries.
On Friday, 30 October, Atalaya Teatro will perform the tragicomedy Divinas palabras at the Casa Municipal de Cultura, starting at 20:30. The performance lasts 85 minutes, and tickets are available for €9 on the Servientradas website. Divinas palabras is Valle-Inclán's most widely performed work outside of Spain, renowned for its literary quality and vivid imagery. The central themes of greed, lust, and death are depicted with both cruelty and grotesque humour, reflecting the human misery embodied in the family of a village sacristan, which resonates with contemporary realities.
On Saturday, 31 October, the Valencian musical group Doña Manteca will present their concert Música latina at the Centro Cultural Mario Monreal, starting at 20:00. The concert will last one hour, with tickets priced at €7, also available on the Servientradas website. Doña Manteca, comprised of Paula Almendros, Elena Almendros, and Empar Mora, aims to reinterpret music from both the past and present through their unique sound, with the trio constantly exchanging instruments and roles while maintaining their three voices as the central focus.
Additionally, this week marks the end of two exhibitions within the cultural programme. Visitors can view the exhibition El valor de lo cotidiano from the Ateneo del Puerto at the Casa Municipal de Cultura until 30 October, and Pinturas exóticas para corazones noctámbulos by Darío Oltra at the Centro Cultural Mario Monreal until 31 October.
