Filmoteca Regional in Piélagos to launch new season with ‘La buena suerte’

The Spanish film ‘La buena suerte’, directed by Gracia Querejeta, will inaugurate the new season of the Mario Camus Regional Film Library, part of the Cantabria government, in the municipality of Piélagos this Friday. The programme will feature a total of 26 films from October 2026 to May 2027, two more than last year, with public screenings scheduled for Fridays at 20:00 in the Cine Vimenor in Vioño.

The upcoming season will be structured into six thematic cycles, including ‘Cine eterno’, showcasing films released before 1970; ‘Clásicos modernos’, focusing on films from after 1970; ‘Nuestro cine’, dedicated to Spanish cinema; and ‘Nuevas sensaciones’, featuring recent releases. Additionally, in collaboration with the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts and the Ministry of Culture, two more cycles titled ‘Mujeres de cine’ and ‘Mujer rural’ will provide two extra weeks of screenings across various municipalities.

‘La buena suerte’ is a thriller set in a rural environment, telling the story of a man who decides to disembark from a train at a rundown village station to purchase an old flat opposite the tracks, choosing to live as if he were not the renowned architect he truly is.

The “Fridays at the cinema” series will continue with additional titles following the screening of ‘La buena suerte’. On 6 November, ‘Bodegón con fantasmas’ by Enrique Buleo (Spain, 2024) will be shown, followed by ‘La buena letra’ by Celia Rico (Spain, 2025) on 13 November, ‘Aunque seamos islas’ by Cristina Rodríguez Paz (Spain, 2025) on 20 November, and ‘El regreso de Ulises’ by Uberto Pasolini (Italy, 2024) on 27 November.

In December, two sessions will feature ‘Langosta’ by Yorgos Lanthimos (Greece, 2015) on 4 December and ‘La vaquilla’ by Luis García Berlanga (Spain, 1985) on 11 December. The screenings for the Film Library in Piélagos will resume in 2027 with ‘El sendero azul’ by Gabriel Mascaro (Brazil, 2025) on 15 January, followed by ‘Mi tío’ by Jacques Tati (France, 1958) on 22 January and ‘Un hombre sin pasado’ by Aki Kaurismäki (Finland, 2002) on 29 January.
