Francisco José Montes, a resident of Torrejón de Ardoz, has achieved remarkable success at the European Police and Fire Games, winning four medals during the event held in Vigo from 9 to 18 October. Montes claimed the championship title in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for the brown belt category at 70 kilograms in the Master division. He also secured a gold medal in grappling (no-gi wrestling) in the same weight category and was a runner-up in the superfight against the black belt champion. Additionally, he earned a bronze medal in the Hyrox cross, a competition that combines running with gym-based challenges.

The championship featured participation from over 3,000 police officers and firefighters from more than 40 countries, competing in around fifty different disciplines. Montes, who serves as a team leader at the Torrejón de Ardoz Fire Station, stood out as one of the prominent athletes of the competition, achieving four medals across three different sports.

“On behalf of the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council, I want to congratulate our neighbour, Francisco José Montes, for being one of the standout athletes at the European Police and Fire Games and for representing our city’s Fire Station so well,” stated Mayor Alejandro Navarro.
