The City Council of Huelva, through its Department of Culture and Archaeological Heritage, will open registration on 3 November for children wishing to participate in the draw for figurants in the 2027 Three Kings Parade, which will take place on 5 January. Families interested in enrolling their children can submit applications until 9 November, in accordance with the guidelines available on the municipal website.
This initiative is aimed at children aged between 5 and 12 years, as of 5 January 2027, who were born or reside in Huelva and have not participated as figurants in previous editions. The council aims to ensure that as many local children as possible can experience one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year from within the parade.
To facilitate family participation, siblings who register together will be entered into the draw with the same number. Nacho Molina, the councillor for Culture and Archaeological Heritage, emphasised the significance of the event, stating, “The Three Kings Parade is one of the most awaited events of the year, especially for the little ones, and we want the children of Huelva to have the opportunity to experience it in a special way, being part of the floats and sharing the magic of the night.”
Molina also noted that the draw is designed to ensure equal opportunities for all children to participate, allowing new families to join the experience each year. Therefore, the requirement of not having participated in previous editions remains in place, while allowing siblings to share this unique moment.
Applications must be submitted in person at the Department of Culture and Archaeological Heritage, located in the Pabellón de Poniente of Casa Colón, between 10:00 and 13:00 during the registration period. Following the application deadline, a provisional list of accepted participants will be published on 13 November on the notice board at Casa Colón. A period for appeals will be open from 16 to 20 November, inclusive. If no appeals are registered, the provisional list will automatically become final.
The public draw for the selection of figurants will take place on 1 December at 12:30 in the Gran Teatro de Huelva. The list of selected and substitute children will be published the following day, 2 December, on the notice board at Casa Colón. Subsequently, families of the selected children will be invited to assign floats and costumes, as well as to receive necessary instructions for participating in the parade.
All minors must be accompanied during the parade by a responsible adult, who must attend a safety briefing organised by the City Council on 15 December at 10:00 in Room A of Casa Colón. Additionally, a parent or legal guardian must sign a declaration of responsibility and image rights consent.
The City Council also stresses the importance of notifying any circumstances that may prevent a selected child from participating well in advance, allowing them to draw from the list of substitutes to offer the spot to another child. Full details and guidelines are available on the City Council's website, huelva.es, under the Agenda section.
This initiative once again opens the door for Huelva families to allow their children to be part of the Three Kings Parade, one of the most traditional and special events in Huelva's festive calendar, enabling them to enjoy the magic of the Three Kings night as parade participants.
