The Córdoba Provincial Council, through its Sports Delegation, has approved a total of €475,000 in competitive grants for 285 sports entities across the province to support sports activities and promote adapted sports during 2026.
Antonio Martín, the council's Sports Delegate, highlighted that the objectives of this funding initiative are twofold: to finance sports projects and to support sports entities that enhance adapted sports. He elaborated that the initiative comprises three lines of funding:
- Line A: Financial support for sports clubs and sections in developing their activities, excluding those in Córdoba city.
- Line B: Funding for Andalusian Sports Federations to promote their sports disciplines that directly benefit Córdoba province.
- Line C: Grants for sports entities that promote adapted sports.
Lines A and B, with a total allocation of €450,000, have benefited 273 sports entities from 70 municipalities and Autonomous Local Entities (ELAs) within the province. The subsidised activities include participation in official competitions at provincial, Andalusian, national, and international levels across various sports; organisation and participation in competitions, tournaments, and events; training activities, exhibitions, and clinics; as well as the organisation of hiking and cycling routes and the development of sports schools.
The sports disciplines represented by the funded entities include athletics, basketball, mountaineering (hiking, canyoning, mountain running, climbing), handball, tennis, pickleball, chess, swimming, triathlon (duathlon and aquathlon), cycling (road and mountain biking), baseball, volleyball, underwater activities (monofin), hunting, sport fishing, motorcycling, motorsport, orienteering, badminton, football, gymnastics, karate, taekwondo, petanque, pigeon racing, equestrian sports, American football, archery, kickboxing, billiards, padel, table tennis, fitness, yoga, kung fu, skipping, muay thai, canoeing, judo (self-defence), golf, and caving.
Line C, with a budget of €25,000, has supported 12 entities that promote physical activity for individuals with functional diversity. The sports activities developed under this line include orientation, swimming, athletics, football, basketball, table tennis, padel, and powerchair football. The grants have been allocated for organising official competitions exclusively for athletes with disabilities, activities promoting awareness of adapted sports and adapted physical activity, and events aimed at improving the physical and technical performance of athletes with disabilities. Additionally, funding supports participation in competitions exclusively for athletes with disabilities or in open competitions with specific categories for disabled athletes.
