I liga asobal inclusiva kicks off this weekend in ciudad real

The I Liga ASOBAL Inclusiva is set to commence this weekend in ciudad real, where the provincial capital will host one of the two preliminary phase matches for the southern central sector. The local team, Caserío Titanes, will act as the host.

Caserío Titanes, the inclusive handball team, will welcome teams from Guadalajara, Cuenca, and Mislata in a round-robin format. Matches will take place on Sunday, 1 November, starting at 10:00 AM at the Quijote Arena.

This new initiative is part of the ASOBAL Legacy League (ALL), which aims to promote sustainability in professional sports through social, environmental, and governance initiatives. The mayor of ciudad real, Francisco Cañizares, expressed pride in hosting the event, highlighting its potential to grow in the coming years.

“Thanks to you, ciudad real will be part of a very innovative and powerful initiative,” Cañizares told the players of Caserío Titanes. He encouraged the public to attend the matches, noting the positive atmosphere surrounding these competitions.

Julián Amores, president of Balonmano Caserío, shared his excitement about the league's launch, recalling discussions with the Titanes team about this project, which has now become a reality. Last year, the team participated in friendly tournaments and training sessions, paving the way for this official league.

Pablo Alba, one of the team captains, assured supporters that they would give their all on the court, promising resilience regardless of the match outcomes, thanks to the supportive family they have built with their coaches, Rafa and Alberto Caba.

Simultaneously, a northern group concentration will take place in Nava de la Asunción, featuring inclusive teams from Ademar León, Valladolid, Barakaldo, and Balonmano La Nava. Two additional concentrations are planned, with Torrelavega also aiming to compete in the final phase scheduled for the weekend of 8 and 9 May next year.
