The Teatro Auditorio Buero Vallejo will host the 15th edition of the Jazz Guadalajara festival on 5, 12, 19, and 26 November, showcasing a blend of Afro-Cuban traditions, the music of John Coltrane, the fusion of jazz and flamenco, and contemporary vocal creations.
Javier Toquero, the city’s Councillor for Culture, presented the festival's programme alongside Julio Gómez, director of Guadalajara's performing arts venues, and pianist Cucurucho Valdés, who will perform at the opening concert. Toquero emphasised the strong connection between the audience and this long-standing event, stating, “It’s a very knowledgeable audience that eagerly anticipates jazz here in Guadalajara.”
He noted that many local jazz enthusiasts also attend other festivals and venues, particularly in Madrid, adding, “It’s always a pleasure to have this jazz cycle in Guadalajara, especially with such important figures as we have brought in recent years.”
“All the performances are carefully curated to ensure they are enjoyable for everyone,” Toquero explained, highlighting the accessibility of jazz in Guadalajara: “It’s very easy to see jazz here, to get close to it, to enjoy it, and for those who understand it, to appreciate and savour it.”
The festival will kick off with a tribute to Bebo by Cucurucho Valdés on 5 November, accompanied by Javier Colina and Inor Sotolongo. On 12 November, the James Carter Organ Trio will present “Trane–A Centennial Supreme,” a tribute to John Coltrane. The New York Flamenco Reunion will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their eponymous album on 19 November, and the festival will conclude on 26 November with Michael Mayo, a two-time Grammy nominee for 2026.
All performances will begin at 20:30 at the Teatro Auditorio Buero Vallejo. Tickets are priced at €12 per concert, with a full pass available for €40, equivalent to €10 per performance.
