The Concello of Vigo has announced an investment of €1.87 million for the renovation of the Auditorio Mar de Vigo. This transformation aims to prepare the venue for a significant exhibition in 2027, commemorating the bicentennial of the renowned French author Jules Verne. Following the exhibition, the space will serve as a location for various congresses in the city.

The mayor of Vigo outlined that the estimated timeframe for the completion of the renovation works is four months. The venue will be divided into two main areas: a larger space designated for events and activities, and a separate area for storage. "It is a multifunctional space that can accommodate initiatives involving up to 1,000 participants," he noted.

The renovation will include the installation of electrical systems and fire safety equipment, as well as improvements in climate control, plumbing, ventilation, and water drainage systems. The mayor highlighted that the inaugural event for the newly renovated space will be the exhibition on Jules Verne, which is set to be showcased in Paris in 2028. Following this, the venue is expected to host numerous congresses, as Vigo is becoming a reference point for a sector that generates wealth, employment, and added value.
