The city hall of Lugo hosted the presentation of lugopoética 2026, a publication that compiles discussions held at the UNED (National University of Distance Education) during the first half of the year. The event took place on 19 October 2026 and was directed by professor and poet Xosé Carlos Ulloa.
The mayor, Elena Candia, reaffirmed the city council's support for this initiative, emphasising the importance of promoting literature and poetry as part of their commitment to Galician culture. She highlighted the need for spaces that allow creators to showcase their work and bring poetry closer to the public.
Lugopoética aims to raise awareness of Lugo's rich poetic tradition, featuring both established voices and emerging authors who excel in literary creation in Galician. This edition includes contributions from twelve poets hailing from various locations, including Chantada, Castroverde, Sarria, Lugo, Paradela, Guitiriz, Cospeito, and Corme.
Attendees at the event received a copy of the book. In addition to local authorities, speakers included Ulloa, president of Egeria Xulio Xiz, and poets Diana Varela Puñal, Chelo Gayoso, Alicia Fernández, Elena Pérez, Eduardo Carreira, Ánxela Gracián, Anamar Fraga, Mariluz Balsa, Xosé Lois García, and Ramón Rodríguez Porto.
The presentation also featured a musical performance by 13-year-old Angélica Darriba Fernández, who played the flute. She is a member of the Escolas Músico Crisanto and the Banda Sons e Soños, and has previously participated in several of these poetic gatherings.
Lugopoética is sponsored by the city council of Lugo, the Xunta de Galicia (Galician Government), and the UNED, with the event organised by Egeria and Brandán Comunicación.
