A new cohort of 87 drivers will join the Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT) starting Friday, following the completion of their training course at the company's headquarters. This new driving staff will begin work on EMT's urban bus service across different lines in the capital.
The training programme lasted four weeks and included 140 hours of both theoretical and practical instruction. The course covered essential aspects of the role, including network operations, work procedures, and safety regulations. Additionally, it included practical driving sessions without passengers and in real traffic conditions.
Before commencing their duties, the new drivers also underwent the necessary medical examinations. This recruitment drive is part of EMT Madrid's plan to strengthen its driving staff in response to the increased demand for public transport and to enhance service coverage.
With this latest intake, EMT Madrid has now recruited a total of 327 drivers in 2026, including five from an internal mobility process.
