Maro prepares for maroween with terror, music, costumes and fun

Maro is gearing up for one of the most thrilling and entertaining nights of the year with a new edition of maroween. This celebration will transform its streets into a scene of mystery, fantasy, and fun for all ages.

“On Saturday, 31 October, locals and visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities that blend Halloween traditions with popular culture, gastronomy, and live music, designed for families and friends to share,” said Elena Gálvez, the councillor for Popular Traditions.

The programme will kick off at 5:00 PM with a parade featuring the Charanga Vaso Largo and La Carpa Teatro. At 6:30 PM, children will enjoy the traditional Trick or Treat, and at 7:00 PM, the streets will come alive with terrifying characters in a new parade, while attendees can sample traditional roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes.

Additionally, the Sala de Usos Múltiples will host a spooky scavenger hunt organised by students from the Employment and Training Programme. At 7:30 PM, there will be a children’s costume contest, followed by a performance by the Zumba Group Gema and Jotxan.

From 9:00 PM, the adult costume contest will take place, accompanied by DJ Toulalan, with prizes for the best costumes and the most terrifying façade awarded at 10:00 PM. The celebration will conclude with a musical performance by Carmen Soto at 11:00 PM, followed by DJ Toulalan, who will keep the party going until 2:00 AM.

On Sunday, 1 November, at 6:00 PM, the Hogar y Centro Social de Maro will host a talk titled 'Death is not the End' by parapsychology researcher Juanma García.

Local mayor Nuchi Moreno highlights that maroween “presents an opportunity to enjoy the charm of Maro's streets, in a celebration that will bring together costumes, music, entertainment, gastronomy, and activities for all ages. With this comprehensive programme, we invite residents and visitors to unleash their imagination, prepare their most terrifying costumes, and enjoy an unforgettable night.”
