Madrid community highlights legal security to attract investments

Rocío Albert, the regional minister of economy, finance and employment for the Community of Madrid, has underscored the significance of legal security as a key factor in enhancing competitiveness and attracting investments. Her remarks came during the closing session of the III Business Law Meeting, organised jointly by the Illustrious College of Lawyers of Madrid (ICAM) and its counterpart in Barcelona (ICAB).

Albert stated that engaging in investment, hiring, innovation, internationalisation, or launching a new business requires "certainty, trust, and clear rules." She pointed out that the role of the corporate lawyer has evolved from merely being an advisor consulted in times of trouble to becoming an essential figure in decision-making processes. This role now increasingly involves defining strategy, risk prevention, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and digital transformation.

Additionally, Albert addressed the implications of artificial intelligence, noting that it raises "significant legal, professional, and ethical questions." She asserted that the challenge lies not in choosing between innovation and security, but in ensuring that both can progress together.

In conclusion, Albert highlighted the necessity of collaboration among professional associations, businesses, and public administrations to effectively navigate the changes of the future.
