Mayor of Palma presides Tots Sants ceremony at municipal cemetery

Jaime Martínez Llabrés, the Mayor of Palma, accompanied by municipal councillors, presided over the traditional institutional ceremony for Tots Sants, held at the Palma Cemetery on Sunday. During the visit, the municipal delegation made a floral offering at the Plaza de la Libertad and the Plaza del Record in honour of the deceased, followed by a musical tribute.

In his address, the mayor expressed condolences for the victims of a recent train accident in Toledo, extending his sympathies on behalf of the Ajuntament de Palma and the entire community to the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy.

Martínez Llabrés emphasised the significance of Tots Sants, stating, "It is a day of remembrance, but also of companionship, respect, and recognition for all those who have been part of our lives." He also praised the work of the professionals at the Municipal Funeral Company (EFM), highlighting their professionalism, dedication, and sensitivity in supporting families during particularly difficult times. "I want to thank you for your daily work, the humane treatment you provide to families, and your commitment to maintaining and improving such an important space for our city as this cemetery," he remarked.

The mayor extended his gratitude to all municipal services working during this period to ensure that visits to the cemeteries occur safely and smoothly. He reiterated the respect, affection, and support of the Ajuntament de Palma for all families remembering their loved ones on this day.

In conjunction with the festivities, the Municipal Funeral Company organised a special programme at the municipal cemeteries. On Sunday morning, musical performances were scheduled at various locations within the Palma Municipal Cemetery, featuring Ela Mikhaylenco on cello, Soriana Ivanic on violin, and Damià Timoner on guitar. Additionally, the EFM set up four information tents at different points in the cemetery to assist visitors, along with an extra flower sales point at the Son Valentí Funeral Home.

It is important to note that the municipal cemeteries are operating under special opening hours from 07:30 to 21:30 until Monday, 2 November, to facilitate family visits. The Palma Municipal Transport Company (EMT) has also activated a special bus service to enhance public transport access to the Son Valentí cemetery, which will continue throughout Sunday.
