Museu Puget in Eivissa launches four educational activities for children and families

The Museu Puget in Eivissa has unveiled four new educational activities aimed at children and families, set to commence on 3 November. These initiatives are designed for children aged three and above, accompanied by adults, and encourage participants to explore the museum's artworks through observation, play, and reflection.

Each activity invites families to closely examine a painting, discover intricate details, and answer various questions related to the depicted scenes. This approach allows visitors to learn about the history, traditions, and daily life of Eivissa through the museum's collection.

Focus areas of the activities

The initial activities revolve around four themes related to the island's society and heritage:

  • Maritime transport: A scene reflecting on the historical significance of boats as the primary means of communication for Eivissa and the challenges of travel in earlier times.
  • Traditional clothing: A festive representation that invites participants to explore how rural men and women of Eivissa dressed, comparing those garments with contemporary fashion.
  • Daily life in Dalt Vila: A painting depicting an old corner of the city, illustrating how water was sourced before modern supply systems were established, as well as identifying urban transformations over time.
  • Domestic customs: A family scene related to traditional bread-making, highlighting the importance of this staple food and common activities in rural households.

The materials for these activities are available in Catalan, Spanish, and English, featuring adapted explanations and open-ended questions to encourage dialogue between children and adults. This selection of four paintings marks the beginning of a broader educational initiative that will gradually expand to include other works from the Museu Puget's collection. The format allows families to engage with the activities at their own pace during their regular visit to the museum, without the need for a specific guided tour.
