The event titled 'Communicating with an equality focus: strategies for inclusive and non-sexist institutional communication' will conclude the 'Encounters for Equality' series organised by the Diputación de Alicante on 28 October.

This fifth and final meeting will be held at the MARQ (Archaeological Museum of Alicante) starting at 9:50 am. Professors Alejandra Hernández and Mar Galindo from the University of Alicante (UA) will discuss the significance of language and communication as crucial elements within public policies for gender equality, highlighting their potential to drive change and social transformation.

Alejandra Hernández, the director of the Gender Studies Research Institute and a tenured professor in the Department of Communication and Social Psychology at UA, will focus her presentation on 'Language and communication as tools for social change'. Meanwhile, Galindo Merino, a linguist and professor of General and Applied Linguistics at UA, will provide insights on 'Keys to non-sexist communication in local administration'.

Loreto Serrano, the deputy for Social Welfare and Equality, stated, 'Communication is a powerful tool that, when used consciously and ethically, can be a driving force for fostering a culture of respect and equity.' She added, 'Often, the way we communicate reproduces gender stereotypes and perpetuates invisible inequalities.'

The 'Encounters for Equality' series serves as a platform for professionals dedicated to promoting equality, social transformation, and local action.
