Reus to celebrate 'aquesta castanyada, anem a l’ample' festival

The El Tomb de Reus Association has unveiled plans for the 'aquesta castanyada, anem a l’ample' festival, scheduled for Thursday, 29 October, from 5 PM to 10 PM in Calle Ample. The event is organised in collaboration with local businesses and supported by the City Projection Department, coinciding with the completion of renovation works in Calle Ample and the nearby Plaza del Pintor Fortuny.

During a press conference, Noemí Llauradó, the City Projection Councillor, and Víctor Perales, president of El Tomb de Reus, were joined by representatives from the multidisciplinary studio Cultura de Taller, which represents local merchants.

Activities for all ages

More than 30 participating establishments have prepared a variety of activities, structured around four main themes:

  • For the little ones: Children's activities and workshops, face painting, and an interactive proposal called 'Pinta la castanyera', along with cut-out activities for kids.
  • Local gastronomy: Sale of roasted chestnuts, a large hot chocolate offering, tastings of local products, and special food and drink deals.
  • Commerce and wellbeing: Exclusive discounts on products and services, along with specialised workshops on essential oils.
  • Entertainment: Activities to get people moving and music to enliven the Thursday evening.

To encourage participation and thank the community for their loyalty, a raffle titled 'La Cesta del Calle Ample' will be held. This prize package, valued at over €800, has been made possible through contributions from participating businesses. Interested individuals can enter the raffle by following the official Instagram profile of the association (@eltombdereus) and adhering to the provided instructions.

The celebration will also feature the presence of Nano 'El Panarra Volador', facilitated by the collaboration with Forn Sistaré.

Promoting local culture

As part of the festival, El Tomb de Reus is reaffirming its commitment to local culture and identity with the launch of a new collectible sticker series, exclusively focused on the traditional products of Castanyada in Reus. This initiative aims to promote commercial activity in the area in a fun and culturally relevant manner.

The El Tomb de Reus Association has expressed its desire to make this celebration a meeting point for the community and an opportunity to energise the commercial zone, highlighting the collaboration between local businesses and the City Projection Department in organising the event. Councillor Noemí Llauradó remarked, 'Reus is a city with a long commercial tradition, and commerce remains one of our main assets. Events like this help reinforce this identity, attract visitors, and transform our streets into lively, dynamic spaces filled with activity.'
