The city council of Santander has held a public draw to designate 1,566 members for the 174 electoral tables that will be established for the upcoming general elections on 29 November. This event took place during an extraordinary session of the council.
The selection process complies with Article 26 of the Organic Law 5/1985, dated 19 June, concerning the General Electoral Regime. It determines the presidents and two members for each table, along with two respective substitutes for each role.
Additionally, nine reserve members are appointed for each table, who may step in as president, first member or second member if necessary. These substitutes will be called upon in the order they were selected, should notification be unfeasible or if the local electoral board accepts a justified impediment or excuse, as per the guidelines established in Instruction 6/2011 from the Central Electoral Board.
Notifications to the selected individuals will commence today. Compared to the previous electoral event in May 2024, which involved the European elections, there is only one change in polling locations. Voters who previously cast their ballots at the Fundación Obra San Martín will now do so at the Juan de Santander Civic Centre.
