Teruel hosts third edition of literary festival 'los libros de los demás'

The city of Teruel is set to host the third edition of the literary festival 'los libros de los demás', titled 'Teruel de cuento y verso', on 23 and 24 October 2026. Organised by the Teruel City Council and the Platform of Poets for Teruel, the festival will feature a variety of literary activities, including conversations, poetry readings, and music, all held in the municipal plenary hall, the San Julián Cultural Centre, and the Luvitien Space.

During a press conference, Carlos Méndez, the councillor for culture, and Cristina Giménez, a member of the Platform of Poets for Teruel, outlined the festival's objectives. The initiative aims to bring together local authors and writers from other parts of Spain to engage in discussions about poetry, narrative, independent publishing, and literary criticism. All activities will be free and open to the public, providing opportunities for attendees to interact with authors and participate in various sessions.

The festival will adopt an intimate format, featuring one-hour sessions where invited authors will be introduced and contextualised by the platform's members. Following these introductions, there will be open discussions with the audience. The programme also includes two poetry recitals and an open mic session, allowing the public to join in the literary experience.

One of the festival's key goals is to promote reading and attract new audiences, both young and old, while fostering social cohesion through culture. It also aims to showcase the works of Teruel authors and create spaces for community engagement. Additionally, the festival seeks to strengthen connections between literature and leisure, encourage collaboration with cultural venues and local businesses, and introduce Teruel to writers who can become ambassadors for its cultural and historical richness.

This initiative reflects a vibrant period for literature in Aragón and Teruel, where collaboration among different generations of writers has enhanced the relationship between authors, readers, publishers, and other stakeholders in the literary sector. The Platform of Poets for Teruel has been active for three years, organising poetic and musical cycles across the province and continuing a tradition of literary gatherings that spans over 20 years.
