theatre production of 'the gentleman Ibrahim and the flowers of the Koran' to debut in Caudete

Manuela González Solera, the Councillor for Culture, has announced the upcoming performance of 'the gentleman Ibrahim and the flowers of the Koran' at the Municipal Auditorium in Caudete. This theatrical production, presented by Nacho Vilar Producciones, is based on the novel by French author Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt and will take place on Friday, 6 November, at 21:30.

The story is set in 1960s Paris and follows the journey of Momó, a Jewish boy who forms an unexpected bond with Mr Ibrahim, an Arab shopkeeper on Rue Bleue. What begins with a small act of theft leads to an extraordinary relationship that transforms Momó's life and offers him a new perspective on the world.

This deeply human and emotional narrative addresses universal themes such as friendship, love, tolerance, personal growth, and cultural understanding. It reflects on the significance of human connections, the transmission of knowledge across generations, and the choices we make in life.

The theatrical adaptation focuses on the shop of Mr Ibrahim, which evolves alongside the protagonist's journey. The production emphasises the power of words, performance, and evocation, complemented by a thoughtful design of lighting and sound that enhances the poetic and spiritual dimensions of the story.

The cast includes Sergio Alarcón as Mr Ibrahim and Carlos Esteve as Momó. The performance is recommended for audiences aged 14 and over.

'The gentleman Ibrahim and the flowers of the Koran' invites attendees to experience a touching story that celebrates our shared humanity and reminds us of the value of smiles, generosity, and understanding towards others.

Tickets will be available at the Casa de Cultura starting on Tuesday, 3 November.
