Tudela welcomes North London Conservatoire string orchestra

The mayor of Tudela, Alejandro Toquero, along with several members of the local council, welcomed the string orchestra from the North London Conservatoire on Friday. This visit marks a cultural exchange with the Fernando Remacha Municipal Music School.

The British delegation consists of 35 students and five teachers, including the conservatoire's director, Ellie Douglas. Their stay in Tudela took place last week, during which they had the opportunity to share musical and educational experiences with students and faculty at the local music school.

The orchestra arrived in Tudela on Sunday, 25 October, and was greeted by Diego Ramírez, the director of the Fernando Remacha Municipal Music School, who showed the visitors around the historic building that houses the institution.

As part of this exchange, both groups performed a joint concert on Thursday, 29 October, at the Church of San Nicolás, as part of the programming by Teatro Gaztambide. The string orchestra from the Tudela school, conducted by Raquel Cuartero, shared the stage with their British counterparts in a free-entry performance.

This musical and cultural encounter is part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Tudela Music School, highlighting the institution's history and its role in the musical education of generations of local residents.

The Fernando Remacha Municipal Music School expressed special gratitude to Ellie Douglas for her commitment, effort, and enthusiasm in making this exchange possible. The experience has enriched the education of students from both institutions, fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange through music.
