The mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, announced on Wednesday that Babé y Cía will be honoured as distinguished citizens of the city in 2027. This announcement was made during the presentation of the book titled "From oil refining to logistics and transport: 138 years of Babé y Compañía" at the Afundación Auditorium.
The publication chronicles the history of Babé y Cía, detailing its evolution from its origins in oil refining to its current role in logistics and transport. The mayor praised the company for its long-standing contribution to the local economy and emphasised the importance of preserving the memory of businesses that have shaped the city.
Caballero acknowledged the efforts of multiple generations in sustaining and transforming the company over the years. He highlighted Babé y Cía as a prime example of the entrepreneurial spirit and industrial tradition that is deeply rooted in Vigo.
