Xunta de Galicia hosts youth and talent event 'Xuventude na Onda'

The Xunta de Galicia is set to bring together youth, talent, and professional role models at 'Xuventude na Onda', an initiative organised by the Consellería de Cultura, Lingua e Xuventude. This event will take place on 12 November at the Cidade da Cultura in Santiago de Compostela.

'Xuventude na Onda' offers a range of over twenty free activities, including music performances, comedy, and games. Notable participants include the musician 9Louro, comedian Xurxo Carreño, and journalist Sara Gimeno.

The primary aim of this initiative is to provide young people with a space for inspiration and personal development. Interested attendees can register on the Xuventude website to enjoy a programme that includes mentoring sessions with professionals, academic institutions, and collaborating entities from the Xuventude Mentoring and Fórmate na Empresa programmes.

This event will also highlight the most sought-after professional profiles and discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on the job market. In line with the objectives of the Plan xeral de lingua, which aims to promote Galician language role models, discussions will focus on creating quality content through humour, featuring insights from comedian Xurxo Carreño and journalist Esther Estévez, presenter of the audiovisual programme 'Dígocho eu?'.

Additionally, the programme includes a practical session on healthy eating, titled 'Teño fame e cero ganas', led by Moncho Méndez from the restaurant Millo, who will teach participants how to prepare quick, healthy recipes beyond the typical junk food options.

This second edition of 'Xuventude na Onda' will also incorporate the Xunta's 'Mente en forma' programme, which began last year to raise awareness about mental health in sports. This year, participants include international athlete and marathon champion Pedro Nimo, content creator and footballer Miguel Mandayo, rally driver and three-time winner of the Hyundai i20N Cup at the Ourense Rally, Adrián Vázquez, and Álvaro Soneira from the Obradoiro Club de Amigos de Baloncesto.

Throughout the day, the event will also feature recreational activities, including a drone circuit and opportunities for participants to engage in various games using Lego and virtual reality.
