26th Ópera Prima film festival cancels awards gala following railway accident

The 26th Ópera Prima Film Festival in Tudela has altered its programme to show respect and mourning for the victims of a railway accident, coinciding with three days of official mourning declared by the Government of Navarra.

The most significant change is the cancellation of the awards gala, which was scheduled for Saturday, 31 October. Additionally, a tribute to director David Trueba, originally planned for the previous afternoon, has been postponed. However, a discussion session scheduled for 19:45 at the Cine Moncayo will still take place.

The postponement of the gala does not affect the other activities planned for Saturday, 31 October. As is customary, the jury's decision will be announced at a press conference featuring its members, set for midday. In the evening, at 19:30, the closing film, El mundo es Ansí, directed by Miguel Ángel Calvo Buttini, will be screened at the Cine Moncayo. The film will be presented by the director along with actors Nahia Bergasa and Álvaro Subiés.

The awards ceremony for the 26th Ópera Prima Film Festival and the commemorative gift to David Trueba will be rescheduled for a later date, which will be communicated in due course. EPEL Tudela-Cultura has expressed solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy and extends condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
