The city of A Coruña is set to host the fourth edition of the Modiña Summit on 4 and 5 November 2026, an event designed to address innovation, entrepreneurship, tourism, and commerce within the fashion industry. Gonzalo Castro, the city’s councillor for Culture and Tourism, emphasised the significance of this gathering in reinforcing A Coruña's historical ties to fashion and its role as a strategic element for economic, cultural, and tourism development.
“In A Coruña, creativity is on the streets. It’s in a shop window, in a workshop, in an exhibition; in the way we dress, share a meal, and welcome visitors. We call this relationship between who we are, what we create, and what we share the Culture of Living,”
Castro stated during the event's presentation.
This year's programme includes a first-ever Press Trip for Fashion and Tourism, aimed at journalists and content creators who will explore key locations in A Coruña to understand its connection to the textile industry, commerce, craftsmanship, and gastronomy. This initiative seeks to enhance A Coruña's positioning as a destination linked to fashion and creativity.
On 5 November, activities will commence at 16:00 at the Work Café Santander, featuring JF64 Emprende, a space dedicated to entrepreneurship where nine projects related to the textile and fashion industry will present their proposals to a specialised jury. The impact of artificial intelligence on the sector will also be discussed, alongside opportunities for development within the Galician fashion ecosystem.
Additional highlights include a roundtable discussion on tourism under the theme “A Coruña, fashion destination. Galicia, fashion destination,” and a forum focused on the future of commerce and digitalisation processes. The programme will also feature a special lecture by fashion communicator and expert Josie.
Castro underscored the importance of fashion as a cultural expression and economic driver, stating,
“Fashion occupies a place in the identity of our city. It brings together the sensitivity of designers, the expertise of manufacturers, and the personal touch of shopkeepers. It turns creation into work and personality into a language that travels. It is culture that is worn and carries the name of Galicia around the world.”
According to the organisers, Modiña 2026 will involve over thirty opinion leaders from the sector and will achieve extensive coverage through social media and specialised media outlets. The summit is solidifying its position as one of the main forums for reflection on fashion in Galicia, bringing together professionals from various fields to analyse transformations in this strategic sector for the economy and the international projection of the region.
