The Albacete city council has unanimously approved the proposal to grant recognitions in honour of City Day, which will be presented during a commemorative event marking the 651st anniversary of the Privilege of Villazgo, awarded to Albacete by the Marquis of Villena in 1375.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 9 November at 18:00 in the Teatro Circo. Rosa González de la Aleja, the spokesperson for the municipal government, stated that the honourees "represent the best of Albacete" and highlight "the talent, culture, solidarity, effort, initiative, and commitment of individuals and groups contributing to the city's development."
This year, the singer and songwriter María Rozalén will be recognised for her "extraordinary artistic talent, sensitivity, commitment, and for turning her music into a tool for inclusion, equality, and humanity." Additionally, the dancer, choreographer, and director Ismael Olivas will be honoured for his contributions to dance and the performing arts.
Collectively, AFANION will be recognised for its thirty years of support for children and adolescents with cancer and their families; AFA Albacete will be acknowledged on its thirtieth anniversary for its work with individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s; and AMEPAP will be celebrated for three decades of promoting female entrepreneurship.
González de la Aleja emphasised that City Day "is an opportunity to celebrate a city that knows its roots, takes pride in its present, and looks to the future with ambition."
