The Albacete Provincial Council has announced the cancellation of two musical events scheduled for Saturday evening at the Teatro de la Paz in the capital. The Music Gala, set to begin at 18:30, and the subsequent concert by the Regional Federation of Music Societies, planned for 20:00, have both been suspended.
This decision comes in response to weather warnings issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which has activated alerts for heavy rain and storms across much of the province. Areas such as Hellín, Almansa, and La Mancha are under an orange alert, while a yellow alert is in place for the Alcaraz and Segura mountain ranges.
The Provincial Government emphasised that this precautionary measure is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, particularly as both events attract musicians, their families, and representatives from various music societies across Albacete.
It was clarified that the cancellation is not due to safety issues at the Teatro de la Paz itself, but rather to avoid potential travel disruptions caused by the anticipated severe weather conditions. The Provincial Council believes that both the Music Gala, intended to honour the exceptional work of local music bands and societies, and the concert should be held under the best possible circumstances, allowing participants and audiences to enjoy the events without unnecessary risks.
Further updates regarding the rescheduling of both events will be communicated in due course, and the council expresses gratitude for the understanding of all individuals, groups, and organisations involved in their organisation. Additionally, they remind the public to exercise caution in the coming hours, heed emergency services' recommendations, and stay informed through official channels.
