The aim is to diversify the tourism offerings in Galicia and highlight its natural resources. Xosé Merelles, the director of Tourism for Galicia, held a coordination meeting with representatives from Starlight destinations to further promote stargazing tourism and strengthen collaboration among regions that hold this recognition.
This initiative seeks to enhance Galicia's appeal as a destination for enjoying the night sky, leveraging the value of its natural spaces and the opportunities that this type of tourism presents. Astrotourism also represents a chance to diversify available experiences, attract new visitor profiles, and support tourism activities in rural areas, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally respectful tourism model.
Through this line of work, there is a continued commitment to collaboration between destinations and the development of specialised tourism products that will reinforce Galicia's positioning as a destination for nature and unique experiences.
