CEIP Castelao begins guided visits to the Concello for new school year

The mayor welcomed 50 fifth-grade students from the CEIP Alfonso Rodríguez Castelao in Coia on Tuesday, marking the start of the municipal educational initiative 'Visit your Concello'. This programme aims to educate students about the structure, functions, and responsibilities of the local government, while also providing insight into the role of local administration in ensuring quality public services.

During the first term of the 2026/2027 academic year, the city council is set to host nearly 700 students from fifth and sixth grades of primary education, as well as first and second-year secondary education students and adults from 17 local educational institutions.

The students will have the opportunity to explore several key municipal services, including the fish market, the Municipal Auditorium, the Local Government Meeting Room, the Plenary Hall, the Traffic Control Room, the Municipal Dance School, and the Press Room.

To facilitate the programme, the Concello provides free transportation for the students and employs qualified monitors to guide the visits. These educational tours will take place twice a week, each lasting two hours.
