Mayor Abel Caballero has revealed one of the key highlights for this year's Nadal celebrations in Vigo, which will see an expansion across multiple city locations. The Cíes Market is set to be installed in the upper square of Vialia, while a Ferris wheel and additional attractions will be located in the outdoor car park closest to the shopping centre.
The expansion of Vigo's Nadal was announced by Caballero on Tuesday, who explained that moving the Cíes Market to Vialia Square aims to enhance the festive experience. He noted that the initiative, which began last year with a Christmas market in the same location, will continue this year with the arrival of the main Christmas market. “The grand Cíes Market will be in Vialia Square and it will be beautiful,” he stated.
This reorganisation also includes relocating the Ferris wheel and other surrounding attractions to the outdoor car park of Vialia, adjacent to the shopping centre, creating a new festive area in the city. Caballero framed these changes within the Concello's commitment to further decentralising the celebrations, recalling that new locations such as Vialia and Bouzas were added last year. The municipal intention is to continue expanding the festivities throughout the city. “We want Nadal to spread across the entire city,” he explained, adding that the Concello will announce further additions to the programme in due course.
