The Club Petanca Mediterrani-Bellvitge has voiced serious concerns regarding the state of its facilities, which include the interior of the social headquarters, the petanque courts, and the adjacent park. Club representatives assert that they have not received any maintenance from the local council for the last two years.
Issues highlighted by the club include a collapsing roof due to rain, malfunctioning blinds that must be manually lifted, and blocked toilets. Additionally, they report problems outside, where the courts have become a gathering spot for drinking parties and a place where dogs are allowed to relieve themselves.
Sonia Aguilar, the club's secretary, stated, "I have contacted the Bellvitge department and the sports department, and the response has been that they do not know who owns the premises, as there are no official documents. Regarding the drinking parties, they suggested it is better here, as it is a secluded area and does not disturb the neighbours, rather than at another location."
The situation has prompted the local branch of the Popular Party (PP) to intervene. Their spokesperson, Sonia Esplugas, has formally requested a meeting with the sports department to address these issues. "There needs to be maintenance and safety for the athletes. Urgent measures and a timeline for execution are necessary," Esplugas concluded.
This situation has raised significant concerns within the community, highlighting the need for better management of local sports facilities.
