The Cabildo of Tenerife has announced that all cultural and sporting activities in island facilities located in areas at risk due to an orange weather alert for rain will be suspended from 10:00 on Sunday.
Blanca Pérez, the island's councillor for Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, explained that the preventive activation of the Insular Emergency Plan (PEIN) allows for the readiness of local resources and services to respond if weather conditions worsen.
“We are facing a situation that requires special attention to the evolution of rainfall, particularly in the northern and metropolitan areas of Tenerife. Therefore, we have adopted this preventive measure and recommend that affected municipalities activate their respective Municipal Emergency Plans (PEMU) and implement necessary protective measures,”
Pérez stated.
The suspension will affect various facilities, including the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium, the Santiago Martín Pavilion, the Tenerife Fairgrounds, and the Adán Martín Auditorium. Additionally, hiking trails in the Anaga Rural Park and forest tracks will also be closed. This measure will remain in effect until the restrictions are lifted.
