Coria to host fifth charity festival of chaquetía in support of AOEX on 31 October

The Plaza de la Catedral in Coria will be the venue for the fifth charity festival of chaquetía on 31 October, running from 11:00 to 14:00. The event will include twelve stalls selling roasted chestnuts and traditional games organised by Juventud Cauriense 2027. All funds raised will be donated to the Asociación Oncológica Extremeña (AOEX), which supports cancer patients and their families.

This initiative, organised by the Coria City Council, aims to blend tradition, community spirit, and solidarity while preserving popular customs associated with autumn. The festival not only promotes local traditions but also fosters citizen participation and strengthens community ties across generations.

Chaquetía is closely linked to the autumn customs of Extremadura, providing an opportunity to enjoy seasonal products and preserve an important part of the region's cultural heritage. The festival highlights how popular traditions can serve as a platform for social support, encouraging the community to contribute to AOEX's vital work.

In addition to the main event in Coria, celebrations will extend to Rincón del Obispo and Puebla de Argeme. In Rincón del Obispo, festivities will take place on 30 October at 19:00 in the Plaza de España, next to the Casa de la Cultura. Puebla de Argeme will celebrate its event on 2 November at 18:00 in the Plaza del Bosque. These additional activities will help to prolong the festive atmosphere of chaquetía and reinforce the presence of popular traditions throughout the municipality.

The Coria City Council encourages both residents and visitors to participate in the fifth charity festival of chaquetía and enjoy a day that celebrates the city’s cultural roots, community, and solidarity.
