The cinema miúdo international children's film festival is set to celebrate its ninth edition from 12 to 15 November in Ames, with science as the central theme of its programming. The festival showcases international short films suitable for all ages, complemented by special non-competitive screenings, workshops, and engaging performances aimed at introducing cinema and other disciplines to children and families.
Festival passes are available for €3 through the electronic ticket office, with 130 passes already sold, leaving 170 still available. The opening and closing events are among the highlights of this year's festival. The opening will feature the show Alquimista by Cris Collazo, alongside a screening of the short film collection Axóuxeres, designed for children under seven years old. The closing event will be hosted by Rony Flamingo, who will present Luces, cámara... reacción! before the awards ceremony and the screening of the winning films.
The festival awards the Axóuxeres and Buxainas prizes in both the audience and professional jury categories. For the audience awards, attending children will choose their favourite films based on applause after each short film, which helps determine the winners.
Tickets for the screenings can be purchased via a single pass for €3, granting access to all festival film sessions, including the opening and closing events. Passes can be bought through the electronic ticket office or in person at the Casa da Cultura in Bertamiráns during the festival days.

Cinema miúdo: a celebration of film for children
The cinema miúdo international children's film festival is an annual event organised by the Concello de Ames to bring cinema to children and families. Through a selection of short films from various countries, the festival provides a window into different cultures, languages, and storytelling methods, while promoting audiovisual education and critical thinking. Children participate as jurors, voting for their favourite films using an applause meter, and engage in workshops and activities that introduce them to the art of filmmaking. Last year's festival attracted over 2,000 attendees.
