The Cultural Delegation of Lucena is preparing for a musical November with two piano concerts as part of the 'La Camarilla del Juernes' series. The events, announced by Francisco Barbancho, the councillor for culture, and local pianist Rodrigo López Rueda, will take place on 8 and 19 November at the Municipal Auditorium 'Manuel Lara Cantizani' and the Casa de los Mora, respectively.
The first concert, titled 'Danzas y folklore', will be held on Sunday, 8 November at 19:00. Rodrigo López will perform a selection of popular and folk music, featuring works by Spanish, European, and Latin American composers, with a special focus on Manuel de Falla, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of his birth. This performance will also mark the conclusion of López's international tour, which began in Argentina.
The second concert is scheduled for Thursday, 19 November at 19:00 in the Casa de los Mora. Argentine pianist Laureano Bruno will present 'Del bel canto europeo a la cultura latinoamericana', showcasing pieces by Clementi and Liszt that are rooted in European operatic traditions, followed by compositions by Villa-Lobos and an original piece inspired by three poems from his great-grandfather, the Riojan poet Pedro Herreros.
During the announcement, Barbancho revealed the addition of a new Yamaha C7 grand piano, measuring 227 centimetres and designed for professional use, which will be installed in the Municipal Auditorium. This instrument will provide the venue with its own high-quality equipment for piano concerts, eliminating previous rental costs associated with suitable instruments for the acoustics of the space.
Admission to both recitals will be free, but attendees must obtain an invitation, available at the Cultural Delegation and the Municipal Public Library 'Rosa de Lima Muñoz Cañete' from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 14:00. These concerts are part of a broader programme of musical activities in Lucena throughout November, coinciding with the feast of Santa Cecilia and International Flamenco Day.
