The death of Jesús de Miguel, a forward for CD Tenerife, has sparked widespread grief and tributes on social media following the announcement of his passing on 3 November 2026. The player tragically died after a serious incident involving a challenge from Jesús Owono, the goalkeeper for FC Andorra.

FC Andorra, which is owned by former footballer Gerard Piqué, released an official statement expressing their sorrow over the loss of De Miguel. The team returned to Barcelona at 4 am, visibly affected by the incident. Following the news, Owono deleted his social media accounts.

CD Castellón, where De Miguel played for two and a half seasons, expressed their condolences, highlighting that he wore their colours with pride and left a lasting legacy with the fans. Piqué himself shared his heartfelt sorrow over the loss of the player, who succumbed to injuries sustained during the match.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas also conveyed his sadness, extending his deepest sympathies to De Miguel's family and loved ones. Numerous clubs, including Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad, Deportivo Alavés, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid, have offered their condolences and support to both the family and CD Tenerife.

In a show of respect, Espanyol postponed the unveiling of their new coach due to De Miguel's passing. The Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) joined in mourning, acknowledging the significant void left in Spanish football.
