The La Solana delegation showcased its talent at the regional Aurelio Maroto Championship, held in Illescas, Toledo. The yellow team delivered an outstanding performance, with Santi Ortiz claiming the individual regional championship title for the fourth time, and three representatives from La Solana occupying three of the four podium spots.
The event also featured a team runner-up finish, highlighting the competitiveness and camaraderie among the three participating venues. A total of 40 players from clubs in Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara), Illescas, and La Solana took part in various tournament formats.
The senior individual competition had a strong La Solana presence, with five players reaching the quarter-finals. Two matches featured La Solana players against each other: Julián Serrano triumphed over Alfonso Palacios in a penalty shootout (6-5) after a goalless draw, while Santi Ortiz defeated Jesuli Delgado 3-1. Paco Sánchez also advanced by beating the host club's president, Alfonso Melchor, with the same scoreline.
In the semi-finals, Ortiz showcased his skills with a commanding 5-0 victory over local player Goyo, while Serrano's tactical prowess led him to a 2-0 win against Paco Sánchez, securing his first regional final. The final match lived up to expectations, featuring high-level tactics. Santi Ortiz emerged victorious with a 2-1 score, adding his fourth individual regional title to his accolades, previously won in 2007, 2009, and 2018.
Following a communal meal, the pairs tournament commenced. Defending champions Santi Ortiz and Jesús Fernández narrowly missed the final, losing in the semi-finals to the Azuqueca duo of José Luis Alonso and Riky Vicente in a penalty shootout.
The day concluded with the team competition. La Solana defeated Illescas but was unable to replicate last year's success, ultimately losing to Azuqueca 7-4 and securing a commendable runner-up position. The awards ceremony was conducted by Alfonso Melchor and Clara Isabel de las Heras Oeo, the councillor for Training, Employment, and Associative Fabric of Illescas. The day was marked by three individual podium finishes, one regional title, and two runner-up positions, marking a successful event for La Solana's football-chapas community.
