Santa Cruz de Bezana observes silence and lowers flags in tribute to Toledo train accident victims

Santa Cruz de Bezana has joined the national mourning following the tragic train accident in Toledo, which has claimed 69 lives to date. In a show of solidarity, the town held a minute of silence on Wednesday, as called for by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

The acting mayor, Manuela Bolado, along with council members Pedro Izquierdo, Nacho Hernando, Javier Bel, Alberto Seco, and Javier Ruiz, attended the solemn event, which was also supported by local residents.

In addition to the minute of silence, the municipality will keep flags at half-mast in observance of the three days of official mourning. As a result of this tragic incident, several cultural and social events have been postponed. This includes the presentation of the latest book by Pablo Alaña at the Bezana library, which will be rescheduled for a later date, and a Halloween event organised by the local association at the Marcos Bermejo pavilion, now set for Saturday, 7 November.
