The mayor of Talavera, José Julián Gregorio, alongside the councillor for sports, Antonio Núñez, has underscored the significance of hosting the Gran Final of the Campeonato de España de Motocross at the Cerro Negro Circuit. This prestigious event places the city at the centre of national sports and enhances its reputation as a key location for this discipline.

Gregorio highlighted the event's impact, which brings together riders, teams, families, and fans from various parts of Spain, providing an opportunity to showcase Talavera's capacity to organise major sporting events. He stated, “When Talavera hosts a major sporting event, it is not just sport that benefits. The city wins, our economic activity wins, and we enhance our ability to attract visitors and demonstrate all that we can offer.”

This year's Gran Final is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time that the Spanish motocross championships are uniting two championships across all categories in a single weekend. This initiative reinforces the significance of the Cerro Negro Circuit and Talavera's long-standing motorcycle tradition, closely linked to this sport.

The event on Sunday focused on the Élite-MX1, Élite-MX2, and MX125 categories, following a first day that featured competitions in MX65, MX85, MXFemenino, MX3, and MX4. The mayor also pointed out the competition's importance for promoting tourism and economic growth in Talavera, as the influx of visitors boosts sectors such as hospitality and commerce, while also elevating the city's profile on a national scale.

Gregorio expressed gratitude to the Real Federación Motociclista Española, the Moto Club Talavera, sponsors, volunteers, and all professionals involved in the organisation, emphasising that their contributions are vital for the successful execution of such a large-scale event.

Finally, the mayor reaffirmed the local government's commitment to promoting sports and continuing events that not only encourage sporting practice but also help preserve the motocross tradition in Talavera, enhance its appeal as a destination, and create new opportunities for the city.
