Theatre initiative promotes dialogue on sexuality and intergenerational experiences in Palencia

The University of Valladolid's Palencia campus is collaborating with La Rueda Teatro Social on a social theatre initiative aimed at fostering dialogue and citizen participation. This event will take place on 12 and 13 November in the capital of Palencia, supported by funding from the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Palencia City Council.

The initiative will centre around sexuality and personal experiences across different generations, using the performing arts as a tool to encourage dialogue, connection, and shared reflection. On 13 November at 20:00, La Rueda Teatro Social will present ‘Doce metros cuadrados de piel’ (Twelve square metres of skin) at the Teatro Principal of Palencia. This performance explores sexuality through the lived experiences of individuals from various generations.

Complementing the performance, a free and open scenic workshop will be held on the afternoon of 12 November. Participants will engage with different theatrical tools to explore their personal experiences, sexuality, and intergenerational dialogue. The workshop will be creative and participatory, allowing attendees to collaborate in creating a short scene that will be incorporated into the Friday performance, providing them with the opportunity to be part of the show alongside the company.

This initiative is particularly aimed at social entities, associations, educational centres, performing arts companies, and professionals, as well as anyone interested in exploring theatre as a means of social participation and reflection. It invites the public to engage with theatre from a participatory perspective, where personal experiences and intergenerational exchange become fundamental components of the creative process.
