University of Alicante and Foguera Séneca-Autobusos renew partnership for cultural accessibility

The University of Alicante (UA) and Foguera Séneca-Autobusos have formalised the renewal of a collaboration agreement aimed at jointly promoting outreach, training, and research activities, as well as initiatives to enhance accessibility and inclusion in the Fogueres festival.

The signing ceremony took place in the rector's office and was attended by UA rector Amparo Navarro Faure and president of Foguera Séneca-Autobusos, Josep Amand Tomás Vallejos. This agreement continues the collaboration between the two entities, which, according to the rector, "is the result of a beautiful friendship."

Navarro highlighted the success of the accessible foguera project, an initiative that advanced the removal of barriers and inclusive participation in the Fogueres festivities. She expressed her satisfaction that the experience will continue, stating, "We hope this initiative continues to grow."

In response, Josep Amand Tomás Vallejos thanked the University of Alicante for its collaboration and willingness to work together. He emphasised that "it is a pleasure to participate in accessibility and outreach initiatives" and echoed the rector's sentiments about the importance of continuing this project and developing joint actions.

The agreement establishes a stable framework for conducting activities of mutual interest. Its objectives include organising seminars and courses on topics relevant to both institutions, promoting training, and developing research related to their respective fields of activity, particularly in collaboration on actions aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusion in the Fogueres festival.

Also present at the event were Catalina Iliescu, vice-rector for Culture, Sport and University Extension, and Ester Algarra, secretary-director of the Social Council, representing the University of Alicante. From Foguera Séneca-Autobusos, vice-president Miguel Ángel Company and deputy president José Luis Huélamo were also in attendance.

This agreement consolidates a line of collaboration between UA and Foguera Séneca-Autobusos that links culture, knowledge, and social commitment, with a particular focus on creating more accessible and inclusive festivities in Alicante.
