Councillor for Older People, Family and Social Services, Rodrigo Nieto, has presented the programme for la noche de las religiones 2026, a proposal launched under the Valladolid plural initiative. This initiative aims to create spaces for encounter, mutual understanding, and dialogue between citizens and various religious communities and entities present in Valladolid.
Valladolid plural was established as a joint initiative of the La Merced Migraciones Foundation, Red Íncola, and the Pluralism and Coexistence Foundation, with the support of the Social Services Department of the Valladolid City Council. Since its inception, it has developed through various socio-educational and cultural activities aimed at the public, with the goal of highlighting the religious diversity of Valladolid and promoting the right to freedom of conscience, religion, and worship.
Over its various editions, encounters have taken place in places of worship, round tables, workshops, and exhibitions, involving 12 religious communities from different faiths. Additionally, the La Roca Evangelical Church and the Bible Society have joined the driving group of this initiative, which comprises civil associations and religious communities.
The programme for la noche de las religiones 2026 seeks to continue the Valladolid plural cycle, concentrating activities over several days that are oriented towards fostering encounters and dialogue between citizens and religious communities and entities of different beliefs. Among the initiative's objectives are to promote mutual understanding, help eliminate stereotypes and prejudices that may lead to discrimination, and value the diversity of beliefs and convictions as part of Valladolid's social reality.
