Abel Caballero, the mayor of Vigo, recently visited the Alianza Francesa to explore the Micro-Folie exhibition, a digital museum that allows visitors to discover notable works from major French cultural institutions. This initiative, driven by the Parisian venue La Villette and supported by the French Ministry of Culture, aims to democratise access to art and bring the heritage of internationally renowned museums, such as the Louvre, the Centre Pompidou, the Musée d'Orsay, and the Palace of Versailles, closer to the public.
During his visit, Caballero highlighted the cultural contributions of the Alianza Francesa de Vigo, which was established in 1951. The organisation promotes the understanding of the French language and francophone cultures through various educational and cultural activities. Throughout the year, it offers a diverse programme of French courses, exhibitions, concerts, lectures, film screenings, and other initiatives that encourage cultural exchange between countries.
