The mayor of Vigo has presented the municipal budget for 2027, which shows a 4% increase compared to the previous year, reaching a total of €365,058,205. This budget includes significant allocations for investments and public services.
The upcoming budget will see investments of €40 million, which constitutes nearly 11% of the overall budget. The mayor outlined four strategic objectives for these investments: housing, the 'Vigo Vertical' initiative, urban improvements, and sustainability efforts.
Public services are set to receive €186 million, reflecting a 5% increase, which translates to an additional €8 million. Notable increases in funding will be directed towards the maintenance of roads, gardens, tourism promotion, cleaning of sports facilities, and other essential services.
Additionally, funding for grants and subsidies will rise to €50,080,136, marking an increase of nearly 12%. The budget also includes a nearly 20% overall increase in the transportation policy for passengers, amounting to an additional €3.8 million compared to the current year. Importantly, the 2027 budget ensures free transport for the most vulnerable groups in the community.
The municipal government is expected to approve the budget in a meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
