Albert Sánchez aims to revive veteran players at ud las palmas

The new coach of ud las palmas, Albert Sánchez, expressed optimism following his initial interactions with the team, noting a significant amount of "positive energy" aimed at reversing the club's current trajectory in LaLiga Hypermotion, where they are positioned far from the top spots.

As he prepares for his debut match on Monday against Oviedo, Sánchez has had just three training sessions with the squad, a limited timeframe in which he aims to "return to the foundations of the model," while also introducing some "nuances." He acknowledged the urgency of the competition, stating, "There is a lot of work to be done; it is a long process, but the most important thing is that we have the willingness to change the dynamic, and there are reasons to be positive."

Sánchez's first match will take place at the historic Carlos Tartiere stadium against Oviedo. He approaches this challenge with the hope of embarking on a "new path together, with respect for a great rival." He highlighted Oviedo's ability to create chances from outside the box and praised their coach, Julián Calero, and the experienced players in their ranks, despite the team’s recent elimination from the Copa del Rey against CD Numancia from Segunda Federación.

For the upcoming match in Asturias, Sánchez admitted that he has not yet finalised his starting lineup, although he indicated that changes would be made based on the nature of the opposition. He reiterated his desire to see a team that is "recognisable, with identity, personality, and confidence on the ball," while also being "aggressive" defensively.

Recognising that football is "a state of mind," Sánchez has placed considerable emphasis on the emotional aspect of the dressing room during his early days with the group. He aims to "recover the best version" of veteran players such as Kirian Rodríguez and Manu Fuster, who are crucial to his future plans, as well as Jesé Rodríguez, a forward whose performance could enhance the team significantly.
