The Consell de Mallorca will participate in the World Travel Market 2026 to promote responsible and safe tourism, focusing on coexistence between residents and visitors.

Consell de Mallorca promotes responsible tourism model at world travel market in London

The Consell de Mallorca, through the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca, will take part in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from 3 to 5 November, aiming to strengthen its position in the British market and showcase its key tourism strategies. The delegation, led by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, will engage in one of the world’s most significant tourism fairs.

This visit will convey a clear message: to advance towards a more responsible tourism model that promotes coexistence between residents and visitors, ensures safety, preserves the island's identity, and fosters a shared awareness of the need to care for Mallorca year-round. The United Kingdom is Mallorca's second most important international market, making it a priority interlocutor for conveying this vision and promoting a way to discover and enjoy the island that respects its territory, heritage, and residents.

Presentations to highlight Mallorca's priorities

The agenda will commence on 3 November at 13:30 with the presentation titled “Mallorca, an Island That Takes Care of You” at the Balearic Islands stand. Llorenç Galmés, alongside the Public Administration Councillor, Rafel Bosch, and representatives from the Mallorca Fire Brigade, will share key aspects that make Mallorca a safe destination ready to provide a quality experience for visitors. This presentation will emphasise safety as a fundamental element of well-being, hospitality, and trust that characterises the island as a tourist destination.

On 4 November at 10:30, Galmés and the Tourism Councillor, Guillem Ginard, will lead the presentation “Mallorca, What’s Next?” at the same Balearic Islands stand. This session will outline significant actions taken against illegal tourism offers in recent months and provide data related to the removal of illegal listings from major international rental platforms, as well as the imposition of sanctions on the island. The presentation aims to share with the international tourism sector the initiatives that will shape Mallorca's future tourism strategy, focusing on shared responsibility, sustainability, and achieving a better balance between tourism activities and residents' quality of life.

A winter in Mallorca: discovering the island we want to preserve

One of the highlights of Mallorca's participation in the WTM will occur on 4 November at 19:00 at The Charterhouse in London, featuring “A Winter in Mallorca.” This cultural and immersive experience will showcase a different side of Mallorca, moving away from the more familiar images of the destination. The event will be attended by Galmés, the Vice President and Councillor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, the Tourism Councillor, Guillem Ginard, and the Insular Director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality, Tomeu Ferragut. It aims to provide a sensory journey through some of the most representative traditions and cultural expressions of Mallorca's winter.

“A Winter in Mallorca” will serve both a cultural and tourism purpose, conveying a message of awareness: to care for Mallorca, it is essential to know it, understand its identity, and respect the way of life of its inhabitants. The goal is to present the Mallorca that its residents wish to preserve and invite visitors to discover: an island with living traditions, unique heritage, and a distinct identity that are integral to its appeal. The initiative also seeks to foster greater awareness of the importance of coexistence between residents and tourists, promoting a relationship based on mutual respect and shared responsibility for preserving the values that make Mallorca a unique destination.

Extensive professional meetings to strengthen collaboration with the British market

Participation in the World Travel Market will be complemented by a comprehensive agenda of institutional and professional meetings with key players in the British tourism sector, including TUI, ABTA, and Jet2. Concurrently, the technical team from the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca has planned over 30 meetings with media, tourism professionals, and influential figures to strengthen relationships with the British market, explore new collaboration opportunities, and expand the dissemination of strategic messages about the destination.

These meetings will present a vision of Mallorca that goes beyond conventional tourism promotion, highlighting its cultural heritage, identity, and the importance of advancing towards a tourism activity that respects the environment and the Mallorcan society. Through this agenda, the Consell de Mallorca aims to enhance the involvement of key stakeholders in the British market in building a more conscious tourism model, where institutions, businesses, residents, and visitors share a commitment to preserving the island. Mallorca is a place to discover and enjoy, but also to understand, respect, and care for.
