The Alicante City Council has approved a project aimed at improving the Teulada market area, marking the first phase of enhancements with a budget of €457,990 and a projected completion time of four months.
This initiative, agreed upon with the municipal group Vox, seeks to enhance the usability, functionality, and accessibility of the commercial space. Planned works include the paving of sidewalks and parking areas, improvements to urban furniture, signage, and the management of construction waste. Additionally, a LED screen will be installed in the southeast area of the site.
Lidia López, the councillor for markets, emphasised that these improvements will renew the paving of the market and enhance pedestrian access, facilitating movement and increasing safety and comfort for both traders and customers. Furthermore, a new exterior fence is set to be installed to modernise and improve the functionality of the area.
The Teulada market is one of the largest in the city, covering a sales area of 15,450 square metres and currently hosting 373 stalls. The modernisation of non-sedentary markets is part of a broader plan to support local commerce and establish these spaces as key hubs for young people.
