Alicante revives halloween activities to boost local commerce

The Alicante City Council is set to revive its commercial dynamisation events that were postponed from Halloween, aiming to promote local businesses and attract new customers to the neighbourhoods with a fresh programme. On Friday, 6 November, the streets of Poeta Quintana and the square of Joaquín María López will be filled with activities, concerts, gastronomy, crafts, culture, and performances.

On Saturday, the avenue of Historiador Vicente Ramos will host a day filled with children's workshops, entertainment, virtual reality, games, and music. Additionally, on Friday, two more commercial events will take place: a chocolate event in the San Gabriel neighbourhood on Calle Los Cincuenta, featuring costumes and a candy route through local shops, and a party in the Pla Carolinas neighbourhood, where all local businesses will participate to engage with residents and energise the commercial areas, encouraging attendees to come in costume.

Lidia López, the Councillor for Commerce, expressed her enthusiasm for these initiatives, stating, “We are resuming the planned events as part of the municipal commercial dynamisation plan to promote and connect our shops in the neighbourhoods and squares, creating a festive atmosphere that combines leisure and shopping, which has seen great participation success.”

The Halloween celebration on Calle Poeta Quintana will once again transform the street into a hub of local commerce and festivities on 6 November, running from 18:00 to 20:30. The event will feature live music, costume contests, monster workshops, cultural activities, tastings, candy, live monster shows, and magic. This traditional family event attracts hundreds of attendees, and costumes are encouraged, as there will be dancing, trick-or-treating, and many surprises organised by the Quintana association with support from the Alicante City Council.

The programme will also include activities in the Joaquín María López square in the Los Ángeles neighbourhood on Friday afternoon from 17:00 to 20:00, and in the avenue of Historiador Vicente Ramos on Saturday morning from 11:00 to 14:00. These highly anticipated events are designed to introduce families to traditional shops. The activities organised by the City Council's Commerce Department will feature children's workshops, attractions, virtual reality, shows, musical entertainment, candy, a 360-degree photocall, games, and various animations.

Families are encouraged to come in costumes and enjoy this special day while supporting local businesses. In the San Gabriel neighbourhood, a chocolate event will take place on Calle Los Cincuenta on Friday, starting at 18:30, featuring a route through shops where children can collect candy. The Pla Carolinas neighbourhood has also prepared numerous offers in its establishments, providing surprises, candies, and sweets to attract new customers. This area will feature entertainment, decorations, and activities throughout the evening, with a window display competition offering prizes to participating shops.
