The 2026 Alicante Commerce Voucher campaign has commenced successfully, with more than 300 vouchers for seniors over 65 sold during the first day of sales. The initiative aims to support local businesses and assist households in coping with inflation.
In-person sales of the Senior Voucher will continue at the Centro de Recursos de Consumo (Cerca) until 9 November. The next sales will take place on 4 November at the Isla de Cuba social centre and on 5 November at the Felicidad Sánchez centre.
The campaign, which is funded by the Alicante City Council and the provincial government, has a total budget of €300,000 for the Senior Voucher, part of a larger initiative to inject €4 million into the local economy. The campaign will run until 5 December.
From 5 November, the Youth Voucher, aimed at individuals under 30, will be available for purchase online during the afternoons until the budget of €200,000 is exhausted. The General Voucher will be available from 10 to 16 November, also online.
Lidia López, the city’s councillor for commerce, stated, "The campaign is designed to boost shopping in local businesses, support households in mitigating the effects of inflation, and promote the economic revitalisation of the commercial fabric and local consumption."
To purchase the vouchers, residents must register on the campaign website. Eligibility requires being over 18 years old and registered as a resident in Alicante. Each resident can spend a maximum of €400 annually, with the city covering half of the cost.
Once purchased, residents can access the BuyBono app to manage their vouchers and view information about their usage. The vouchers can be redeemed at participating businesses, which span various sectors including food (18%), footwear (6%), decoration (11%), and technology (6%), among others.
