Written by philologist Albert Ibañez Domènec, the volume provides a thorough examination of argenté's life and work, supported by extensive documentation and research. It explores the various personal and professional facets of the writer, as well as his contributions to contemporary Catalan literature.
Born in Badalona in 1931, argenté balanced a legal career with a vibrant literary life. He was particularly noted for his poetry, plays, and translations, especially of French poetic and theatrical works. During his formative years, he was influenced by prominent figures in Catalan culture, including historian Enric Bagué and writer Maria Aurèlia Capmany, who taught him at the Isaac Albèniz Institute in Badalona.
His literary career began in the 1950s and gained recognition in 1960 with the publication of his poetry collection El tiempo, de tantos dedos, which won the Joan Salvat-Papasseit Prize. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades, including the Carles Riba Prize in 1975 and the Creu de Sant Jordi in 2006.
The biography has been compiled from the documentary and photographic materials that argenté donated to the Museu de Badalona, allowing for a deeper understanding of lesser-known aspects of his life and literary output.
The launch event will feature contributions from the author, Albert Ibañez Domènec, as well as personal friends of argenté, Teresa Biayna and Agustí Pons, alongside Rosa Bertran, a councillor and vice-president of the Museu de Badalona's governing council.
