The Municipal Swimming School of Antequera has planned two sporting events and a new edition of the Solidarity Swims for the 2026/2027 season. Deputy mayor for sports, Juan Rosas, presented the activity calendar organised by the club Sobre 2 Ruedas Bikes, which also includes participation in the Provincial Winter Swimming Circuit organised by the Málaga Provincial Council.
The first event will take place on Saturday, 7 November, at the Municipal Covered Pool. This swimming meet is aimed at students of the Municipal Swimming School and will run from 08:30 to 10:30, allowing swimmers to participate without disrupting the usual schedule for free swimming users.
This event will be followed by a second internal competition day on Saturday, 29 May 2027, held at the same time. Both events are designed to promote participation and sporting camaraderie among the school's members.
Additionally, the Municipal Swimming School will compete in the Provincial Winter Swimming Circuit, which consists of five qualifying rounds this season. The first round will take place in Antequera, while the other rounds will be held in Alhaurín el Grande, Coín, Vélez-Málaga, and Nerja. Swimmers who qualify, along with participating municipal schools in the club category, will have the chance to compete in the final phase of the circuit, scheduled for May in Antequera.
The programme also includes a new edition of the Solidarity Swims, set for 10 and 11 December at the Municipal Covered Pool. This initiative links swimming practice with food collection for the Social Dining Room of Antequera. During these two days, participants can access the pool for free swimming by donating one kilogram of food for each hour of pool use, replacing the usual entry fee. Collected items will be donated to the Social Dining Room.
Juan Rosas has encouraged members of the Municipal Swimming School and regular pool users to participate in the various planned activities, highlighting both their sporting nature and the charitable aspect of the programme. He also expressed gratitude to the club Sobre 2 Ruedas Bikes and its team of instructors, particularly Salvador Parra, for his daily efforts in coordinating the Municipal Swimming School and supporting its members in various provincial competitions.
